Google just released Gemini Advanced. It's the new version of Bard that uses Ultra.

Here's everything you need to know and how to access it:

1. Bard becomes Gemini

Bard has been renamed Gemini

It has 2 tiers:

• Base Gemini uses Pro 1.0

• Gemini Advanced uses Ultra 1.0

The Ultra 1.0 is said to be on paper equivalent if not more powerful than GPT-4.

2. Access Gemini Advanced

Gemini Advanced is available in 150 countries. You can try it for free for 2 months (with Google One). The price is $19.99/month after.

3. Gemini Advanced features

For the moment, Gemini Advanced has the same features as Gemini (formerly Bard):

• Image generation

• Access to extensions

But in the coming months, new exclusive features will be added:

• Expanded multi-modal capabilities

• Even better coding features

• Ability to upload and more deeply analyze files, documents, data, and more

4. Gemini app

You can generate text and images, use Extensions, add your current screen as context, and more. Download the Gemini app in the Play Store, on iOS, try Gemini in the Google app

It is currently only available in the US, and in the next few days will be available worldwide except in the EEA.

Gemini Advanced vs ChatGPT Plus

Now, let's compare Google Gemini Advanced and ChatGPT Plus. Which AI assistant is right for you? Let's dig in:

Generative AI capabilities:

Just like ChatGPT, which provides access to the latest model, GPT-4 Turbo. Gemini Advanced allows users to access the Gemini Ultra 1.0 model, known for better reasoning, following instructions, coding, and collaboration.

Similar to ChatGPT, Gemini can generate pictures from simple text prompts.

Can be accessed on smartphones:

Both are available on Android or iOS devices for free. However, Gemini Advanced integrates with Assistant for voice commands to:

• Set an alarm

• Send a text message

• Call someone

• Launch the camera

AI Image Analysis:

With Gemini, you can click a picture of a subject and analyze it using AI to gain more context. This feature parallels Google's "circle to search" but offers more than similar product listings. Gemini can provide additional information on the subject.

These features are not exclusive to Gemini Advanced subscribers; free Gemini users also have access. This is available only in ChatGPT Plus. Although both costs the same $20 per month

Google One Benefits are included in Gemini Advanced

Gemini has:

• Up to 2 TB of cloud storage

• Access to Gemini in Docs and Gmail
  

Enhanced Google Meet capabilities:

• Longer group video calls

• Enhanced video quality

Note: The standalone Google One plan with 2TB storage is priced at $10 per month. However, all these benefits are included in the Gemini Advanced subscription.

Which one should you opt for?

If you're already a "Google One subscriber", then "Gemini Advanced" is a sensible choice, especially with its bundled Assistant functionalities and Google One benefits.

However, if your main focus is on a generative AI model to access various PTs and the latest generative AI innovations, "ChatGPT Plus" might be the better option.
